Cochrane Tourism will endeavour to promote Cochrane through the encouragement and facilitation of events, promotions and campaigns to raise the awareness of Cochrane as an outstanding, innovative and exciting visitor destination. This assignment will be achieved in conjunction with other organizations, groups, and levels of government with full cooperation and integrity. (February 2007)
Welcome to Cochrane Tourism

Located in the heart of Alberta cattle country and the Cowboy Trail, Cochrane is a recreation playground for families, adventure enthusiasts and those seeking rest and relaxation in a beautiful natural setting. Only 20 minutes from Calgary and less than an hour from Banff, with spectacular vistas of the rolling foothills and majestic Rocky Mountains, Cochrane combines a proud western heritage with all the modern conveniences required for a great vacation.

From running events to rodeos, skateboarding or hiking through original ranch country, Cochrane has action for everyone. Spend the day enjoying quaint shops, boutiques, dining establishments and the most famous ice cream in Alberta. Or enjoy the talents of a number of recognized artisans, musicians and writers that call Cochrane home.

Visitor Information Centres (VICs)

A seasonal VIC is located in the Cochrane Ranche Historic Site at the junction of Hwy 1A and Hwy 22 and is open daily during the summer from mid-May to Labour Day, 9:00 am - 5:00 pm. Guided tours, educational interpretive programs and special events are available at the Ranche. The Cochrane Ranche Historic Site, the location of Alberta's first large scale livestock operation in 1881, is accessible year-round.  It is a 136 acre public park with picnic tables, two fire pits, and an outdoor stage.

A year round VIC is located downtown at 209-2nd Avenue West, 403-932-4705.  It is open from 12:00 pm - 4:30 pm Tuesday through Friday and 12:00 pm - 5:00 pm Saturday and Sunday.
